Leathersmith

Hello everyone!

We completed another all day photo journey yesterday. Out travels took us to Spring Mill State Park, located in Southern Indiana, just outside of Mitchell.  This is a wonderful park, with many photo opportunities.  There is a very nice pioneer village here. Inside the leather shop we snapped several images of the resident leathersmith.  As always, click the image for a larger view!

If anyone gets the chance, this is a great park to visit, and by all means stop by and say hello to the leathersmith.

Some technical data for this image (shot with my Sony RX100 II).

ISO 3200
Focal Length 12.18mm (33mm in 35mm)
Aperture f/5
Exposure Time 0.025s (1/40)

Thanks for stopping by.  More images to come.

Cataract Falls Covered Bridge

Another image from my trip last week. We stopped by Lieber Recreation Area on our way home.  Once again, not very good light, but a somewhat picturesque scene.  This was captured later in the afternoon, which provided a bit more warmer tones in the image. Click the image for a larger view.  Some technical data below.

ISO 400
Focal Length 30mm (30mm in 35mm)
Aperture f/13
Exposure Time 0.0031s (1/320)

Now for some history!

The Cataract Falls Covered Bridge is a covered bridge that spans Mill Creek in the Lieber State Recreation Area, Owen County, Indiana, United States. Built in 1876 by the Smith Bridge company of Toledo, Ohio, it was at one time one of the most famous and photographed covered bridges in the United States. It is the only remaining one in Owen County.
Since the road bypassed the bridge in 1988, it is only open to pedestrians. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

Hello everyone!

Yesterday’s trip to Turkey Run State Park in Indiana turned out to be very challenging day.  The weather dude promised more clouds than sun, with zero chance of rain.  The morning started out pretty good, but by the time we reached our destination, there was not a cloud in the sky. By late morning, trying to get a properly exposed image was almost impossible.  At any rate we proceeded with reckless abandon, using the very bright, contrasty day as a learning opportunity.  The image above was one of my better ones for the day from down in the river gorge.  Some technical info regarding the image are below.

ISO 100
Focal Length 32mm (32mm in 35mm)
Aperture f/18
Exposure Time 0.8s (8/10)

Brown County Sunrise

This image was captured this past week about an hour after sunrise.  This lookout can be found while driving through Brown County State Park. A fantastic destination to get your photography game on!  The Dogwood and Redbud trees should begin to bloom here in the next week or so.  This image was captured and using my Nikon D700, with my 24-70 f2.8 attached.  Head over to my website to view more of my Brown County images.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.
