Beck’s Mill

Hello everyone!

Yesterday my photo journey took me on a long trip to the most southern area of Indiana.  Along the way we came across many photo opportunities.  The image above is of Beck’s Mill, located about seven miles south of Salem, Indiana.  A very difficult building to shoot because of its proximity to the country road and the angle of the building.  I’ve made many trips to this old grist mill, but this is by far me favorite image.  Here is some technical info regarding this image, which was captured with my Nikon D700 using a 24-70 f2.8 lens.

Thomas Ranck Round Barn

Hello everyone! My travels yesterday took me in search of this particular round barn that is located close to the Ohio border just outside of Connersville, Indiana. A storm had just rolled through upon my arrival.  Some history regarding this barn and technical info below.

The Thomas Ranck Round Barn is a round barn near the FayetteWayne County, Indiana county line. It is one of many round barns built in Indiana during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Of the round barns built in eastern Indiana during this period the Ranck Round Barn stands out as one of the most elaborately designed structures. The Thomas Ranck Round Barn was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in January 1983. (Courtesy Wikipedia).

Taken with my Nikon D700 and Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 lens.

ISO 500
Focal Length 70mm (70mm in 35mm)

Leathersmith

Hello everyone!

We completed another all day photo journey yesterday. Out travels took us to Spring Mill State Park, located in Southern Indiana, just outside of Mitchell.  This is a wonderful park, with many photo opportunities.  There is a very nice pioneer village here. Inside the leather shop we snapped several images of the resident leathersmith.  As always, click the image for a larger view!

If anyone gets the chance, this is a great park to visit, and by all means stop by and say hello to the leathersmith.
