Red Barn and Snow

There  is something really eye catching when I see a red barn up against a snowy background.  I felt it was very important in this image to also give some focus to the entire landscape surrounding this barn.

Hopefully you enjoy this is as much as I do. Have a great week!

Red Barn

Red Barn Bartholomew County, Indiana

This is one of my drive by shooting barns.  Located right on the highway, I stopped and quickly rattled off 2 shots.  This image was captured with my Canon G11, which is with me most of the time.  Great little camera when you don’t want to drag out the big gear.  There is another shot of this barn on my website you can see here.

Have a great day!

Stormy Day

Weathered Red Barn Wyandot County, Ohio

Following the high winds and finally some rain in the area yesterday, we are left with almost no autumn color.  High winds will continue today.  Photo opportunities still abound here in South Central Indiana.  Trying to get some work done around the house , but hopefully this evening the ole Nikon will be hard at work.

For this post I have included an image captured last fall on one of my drives home from northern Ohio.  My Tokina 11 -16 F2.8 wide angle lens was used for this capture. You can see a larger image here.

Have a great day!!

Mail Pouch Barn

Mail Pouch Barn, Ohio

Originally uploaded by Lyle C

While taking a long day trip yesterday into Ohio, I stumbled across this old Mail Pouch barn. This is located on highway 42, close to Waynesville, OH.

These barns are getting harder and harder to find, so you can imagine the excitement when one of these shows up along side the road. The time of day for this shot was not my favorite, but I made do with what I had. This was shot with my circular polarizing filter attached to my Nikkor 18-200 VR lens. I also used some fill flash to bring out some color and detail in the barn. View this image larger by clicking here.

Another Winter Day

Rusty and Weathered

Rusty and Weathered

Well we are finally warming up a bit here in Indiana.  As you can see above, the snow is melting away.  Hopefully this will be the last of the white stuff this year!  These are the types of barns that I just love to stumble upon.  Extremely weathered and worn. I have posted several other new images this past month that can be seen on my website Country Roads Photo.  Once there, just click on the Recent Photo’s link at the top of my home page.

Thanks for visiting and stop back soon.  Have a great day!

Springs Arrival

Narrow Red Barn

While out and about yesterday with my camera, it was clearly evident that mother earth is beginning its transition from winter to spring. The grass and winter wheat is beginning to get very green, and the trees have a reddish tone to them. All sure signs of renewal.

The barn above was captured in Jackson County, Indiana, not far from Brownstown. It was a very nice morning to be out and about with the camera. Being a Friday morning, the traffic was minimal. This allowed for some nice drive by shooting opportunites.

Stop by my website to view the other images I captured on Good Friday. We are now offering canvas gallery wraps for most all of my images. These are extremely high quality prints on archival canvas, that look great in any room. Click here for more information.

Thanks for stopping by!

Iron Bridge

What a dismal weekend!! That did not stop me from getting the Nikon out. Saturday morning I set my sites on the Atterbury Wildlife area in Johnson County, Indiana. I have shot this bridge on a couple other visits and decided to try one using the HDR process. While I like the over all contrast in this image with the black iron bridge and the white snow, a bit different perspective would have helped this image.

Thats what I get for not stopping and thinking about what I wanted this image to say. We are way to quick to begin clicking the shutter button, without really thinking about the message we are trying to convey. A good lesson learned this weekend.

You can see a larger version of this image by clicking here. Hopefully my next post will have an image that is a bit more interesting.

Have a great week!

Cold Winters Day

Cold Winters Day

Finally was able to get out for a short drive this past weekend. As you can see from my image, it was a very gray and gloomy day. There is something about this weather that really makes for more dramatic shots. Its like you can almost feel the cool wind hitting your face when you look at these winter images. If you would like to view this image a bit larger, please go to my home on the web, Country Roads Photo.

Feel free to leave me some comments, and please stop back.
