Mail Pouch Barn

Decaying Mail Pouch Barn Jefferson County, Indiana

Another image from my trip 2 weeks ago to southern Indiana.  This old Mail Pouch barn has definitely seen better days, but then again, most all of these old barns are getting in this type of condition. This image was captured with my Nikon D200 using my 18-200 F5.6 VR lens  and Hoya HD Pro circular polarizer.

When I initially began shooting seriously, my main focus was on the Mail Pouch barn.  I now shoot all types of barns while out and about.  Feel free to browse my barn gallery at Country Roads Photo.

Smoky Mountain Vista

Hello everyone. This image was captured back in 2008 on a trip down to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

There was not very much color around here (Indiana) this year due to the drought, so I decided to go through some of my older images to remind myself what great autumn color looks like.

This park is probably one the best places in the country for taking pictures. We really enjoy heading there when ever possible.

Thanks for looking!

Sunrise over the Ohio River

The image was captured Saturday morning right at sunrise. Several of my photography club members and I traveled down to the Falls of the Ohio Sate Park located in Clarksville, Indiana. We were blessed with a beautiful sunrise and a wonderful day.

This image was captured using my Tokina 11-16 ATX Pro lens mounted on my Nikon D200. Using this lens is really fun, giving some really cool perspective to landscape images. Of course a tripod was also used.

Hope you enjoy this one as much as I do.

Have a great day.

Stormy Day

Weathered Red Barn Wyandot County, Ohio

Following the high winds and finally some rain in the area yesterday, we are left with almost no autumn color.  High winds will continue today.  Photo opportunities still abound here in South Central Indiana.  Trying to get some work done around the house , but hopefully this evening the ole Nikon will be hard at work.

For this post I have included an image captured last fall on one of my drives home from northern Ohio.  My Tokina 11 -16 F2.8 wide angle lens was used for this capture. You can see a larger image here.

Have a great day!!

Finally, spring time here in south central Indiana. The Red Buds are in full bloom, and the different shades of green one can see are amazing. All of my recent images were taken either during, or right after a rain shower. Click here to see all of my recent images.

Stop back soon.

March Weather

March Morning

While running into town this past Saturday, I came across this very nice red barn.  There was a very low cloud deck that morning, making for a good HDR opportunity.  For me the best time to use this technique is when the clouds are low and gray. We had been driving past this barn for many years, wondering how we could get a good capture.  Finally opening our eyes when driving through here, I noticed a country road going back to an old cemetery.  From here I could get a good view of the barn.

The HDR process worked well on this one, really giving detail to the gray clouds and the red barn.  You can see a larger version by clicking here.

Have a great week!

Winters Arrival

After a long hot summer, winter is finally upon us.  This barn was captured the day after a winter storm passed through our area.  There is something about a red barn against the white snow that really gets my attention.  You can see a larger view of this image by clicking here.

Have a wonderful holiday season!!

Thanksgiving Weekend

Under Cover

Hopefully everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!  We were fortunate to have been able to spend time with all of our family.   I was able to sneak out Friday and snap a couple of images.  The one that is posted here is called “Under Cover”.  This barn was captured in Shelby County, Indiana, just a bit east of Edinburgh.  It was a very nice day, with some wonderful cloud formations.  Click here to see a larger view of this image.

Thanks for stopping by.
