Cullasaja River, North Carolina

Hello everyone! I just arrived home from a week long photo trek through western North Carolina.  We could not have picked a better time to capture the wonderful fall colors. On this day it was a very cloudy and misty day which really made the color in the leaves pop.

This is an image looking down the Cullasaja River located close to Highlands, North Carolina.  Directly behind where I stood to capture this image is the Dry Falls.  A picture of this can be found by simply clicking the image above.  You will then be able to see some of my other images from the trip.

This image was captured using my new Tamron 24-70 F2.8 VC  lens attached to my Nikon D700. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Hello everyone. This image was captured back in 2008 on a trip down to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

There was not very much color around here (Indiana) this year due to the drought, so I decided to go through some of my older images to remind myself what great autumn color looks like.

This park is probably one the best places in the country for taking pictures. We really enjoy heading there when ever possible.

Thanks for looking!

Red Barn

Red Barn Bartholomew County, Indiana

This is one of my drive by shooting barns.  Located right on the highway, I stopped and quickly rattled off 2 shots.  This image was captured with my Canon G11, which is with me most of the time.  Great little camera when you don’t want to drag out the big gear.  There is another shot of this barn on my website you can see here.

Have a great day!

Stormy Day

Weathered Red Barn Wyandot County, Ohio

Following the high winds and finally some rain in the area yesterday, we are left with almost no autumn color.  High winds will continue today.  Photo opportunities still abound here in South Central Indiana.  Trying to get some work done around the house , but hopefully this evening the ole Nikon will be hard at work.

For this post I have included an image captured last fall on one of my drives home from northern Ohio.  My Tokina 11 -16 F2.8 wide angle lens was used for this capture. You can see a larger image here.

Have a great day!!

This image is of Looking Glass Falls. There are some great images to be had here, but some climbing around on wet rocks will be necessary.

You can see some more of my images from this trip, by visiting my new Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountain gallery at Country Roads Photo.

Great Smokey Mountain National Park

This past week members of my photo club took a trip down to Maggie Valley, North Carolina.  This was my first excursion involving nothing but photography.  What a great time we had.  The weather and the color in the mountains was absolutely beautiful.  This was truly a memorable trip.  To see more of my images from the trip, click here. I will be adding new images daily.  We put in some very long days, but in the end the work was well worth the effort, both in terms of images captured and the learning we were able to share with one another.

Stop back soon, and don’t forget to check out my galleries.
